News Release
For Immediate
Release
Seymour and surrounding area
residents will now have access to job searching and job training closer to home
with the Mobile Career Center bus from the Missouri Career Center.
The Mobile Career Center will add its
second location for Webster County this month. It will travel to Seymour, MO on
April 14th, and will be parked on the South side of the square from 10:00 am to
3:00 pm that day. A dedication ceremony with the Chamber and other officials
will take place at noon. The public are invited to attend the event as well as
utilize services throughout the day.
The $260,555 satellite-equipped bus
has 13 computers, phone, Smart Board and an accessible workstation for customers
with disabilities. Equipped with internet access; the Mobile Career Center will
allow customers to access internet job search sites and complete unemployment
insurance reporting requirements for laid-off workers. In addition, it is hoped
the unit will eventually be able to provide other job-related services such as
on-line and classroom training, employer organization meetings and Rapid
Response services to plant closings or mass layoffs.
The Missouri Career Center serves
clients in Greene, Christian, Dallas, Polk, Taney, Stone and Webster counties
from offices in Springfield and Branson. With the addition of the Mobile Career
Center, the staff can take its services directly to clients with regularly
scheduled stops in area towns. It will provide more opportunities for both job
seekers and employers to use the services without having to travel regularly to
Springfield or Branson.
The Mobile Career Center will come to
this location on the 2nd Thursday of each month to provide services to the
residents of Webster County and surrounding areas.
